Keeping with the trend of the early 1990’s Dawson Creek was part of the many other teen-themed shows that was aired on TV in the US. The Dawson’s Creek TV show was set in a fictionalized town named Capeside in Massachusetts. The series aired its first episode on 20th January, 1998 and went on for 6 seasons with the last episode being aired in May 2003. The series was later aired in a number of different countries and reruns for it can be seen on many different channels across the globe.

This particular TV show has its own fictionalized town called the Capeside in Massachusetts and has four main characters in it. One character among the four is called Williamson, played by Dawson Leery. These four main characters in this show are into the first year of high school and are close friends at the starting. And probably you would have guessed the storyline by now, wherein these guys are coping with the teenage after the adolescent period and introspecting into things in a deeper manner.

The main reason for this TV show to be more popular than other TV shows of this genre was because of the fact that these four important characters portrayed things in a different manner. Each of these personalities was unique and depicted their roles in a manner that reached the audience very well.

Another important thing that was the reason for the popularity of this show was its excellent storyline. The music too added to the popularity of this show. Each of the episodes was excellent in its own and was the directors had carved out a niche for themselves. However, Longest Day (3rd season) remains the favorite episode of the people who have been following this series closely.

During all the seasons one of the most intriguing and complex relationships is that of Joey and Williamson. During the end of the sixth season their relationship comes to a certain conclusion which is extremely emotional and almost brings viewers on the verge of tears.

When the series first aired in 1998 many people had different views as the series covered a number of different teenage issues and some of them were shown in a way that not many people appreciated it. The show ran into some controversies with its racist dialogues that went beyond the teenage mindset.
