Reconstruct Your Beauty

Plastic Surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve the appearance and self-esteem of an individual. Some plastic surgery procedures are gaining popularity these days. One of them is Liposuction which removes unwanted localized deposits of fat cells from the body. The procedure is meant for body contouring. It is not a treatment of obesity. A suction tube is inserted through a tiny incision placed in an inconspicuous location on the skin. With a high pressure vacuum, fat cells are extracted through this tube.

With the Tumescent Technique, large volumes of saline solution, local anesthesia, and adrenaline are infused into the fatty area being treated to cause swelling. This enables your surgeon to maneuver a small instrument called a cannula, connected to a vacuum machine, superficially under the skin. The cannula is inserted into the fatty tissue through tiny incisions.

Your surgeon gently moves it around under your skin and suctions away the unwanted fatty deposits. The most frequent areas treated by liposuction in men are the “love handles”, breasts, abdomen and neckline. In women they include: thighs, hips, buttocks, stomach, knees, lower leg, cheeks, and double chins. Some women elect to have their fat recycled through lipo-augmentation.

Known only as ‘Rafael’, a Spanish man who is the ninth person in the world to receive a partial transplant has appeared in public to thank his donor and the surgeons who operated on him. He said he wanted to personally thank the family of the man who allowed him to have a new face.

Rafael has suffered from a congenital disease known as neurofibromatosis type 1 since birth. It is a genetic disease which causes abnormal growth of cells and has caused benign tumours to form on two thirds of his face. “There was no reconstructive alternative except for a tissue transplant from a dead donor.” said Dr Gomez Cia, one of his chief surgeons.

After a 30 hour surgery involving a massive team of the worlds best facial and plastic surgeons, Rafael had the lower two-thirds of his face replaced with that of a donor. After the operation he spent five weeks in intensive care and a week in a burns unit before finally moving to a regular hospital bed in March. His team of surgeons spent a year practising for the operation on cadavers and using the latest 3D simulation software before an appropriate donor appeared.

Things You Need To Know Before Going For Breast Enhancement

By Anastasia Hemmingway on Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Filled Under: Health

Having a breast enhancement operation exposes you to dangers such as breast-feeding difficulties or implant leakage. Thus, it is necessary to know these common risks and side-effects to better prepare you on what to do.

Quite a number of patients who have tried breast enhancement successfully breast feed. However, there is still a possibility that it will affect the breast feeding process. Before going through the surgery, confer with your surgeon about this. Sometimes, breast enhancement results to a loss of sensation in the nipple and breast area. This loss of sensation, which results from damaged nerve endings, may be temporary or permanent. The result would depend upon the breast enhancement technique practiced by your surgeon.

Another possible risk of getting breast enhancement operation are the leaking of the breast implant materials into the adjacent breast tissue. To decrease the probability of leaking, make sure that the implant material that will be utilized is approved by the FDA. Implants may also break or rupture over time. Usually, ruptures happen when there is excessive compression or trauma to the breast. It may also be because of the natural aging of the implant. Sometimes, it is mammography itself that presses the breast implant, thereby causing it to bust.

Reducing Your Risk of Developing Stretch Marks

By Tony Garrudo on Wednesday, March 17, 2010
Filled Under: Health

If you gain a lot of weight rapidly, or become pregnant, you may experience stretch marks, which are thin lines of stretched skin. We have very flexible skin on the whole. We can experience disrupted production of collagen during fast weight gain, however; this will inhibit the body’s ability to keep our skin smooth using the collagen protein. You’ll see a bunch of rough, red lines on your skin that turn white before long, and eventually fade. People of both genders have stretch marks, but women, especially pregnant women, get them the most often.

Body builders, those people with unhealthy amounts of fat, or those who are overweight or even obese, have a tendency to develop stretch marks because of the constant, and sometimes accelerated, changes to their body. In addition to lifestyle, heredity can also determine whether or not a person will develop stretch marks. People who are born with skin that is dry and lacks elasticity are much more likely to develop stretch mark than those who have softer skin. Even a minor change to body composition can quickly lead to stretch marks for people with drier skin. Those who have used topical creams or ointments to apply steroids directly to the skin are also more prone to stretch marks.

Cosmetic surgery is the art of remoulding the appearance of specific body parts by qualified surgeons. Usually individuals like to alter their breast, ears, eyes, face, hair, nose and abdomens.
